Mr. Joseph Lozer, age 77 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Friday, June 29, 2018 with his family by his side.

Joseph was born in Cetekovac, Croatia on March 12, 1941. Wanting to find a better life for himself, Joseph left his war-torn country in pursuit of his dream. He faced many challenges and spent time hiding in various countries before being allowed to board the ship to Canada. Upon his arrival, Joseph worked various jobs, from Atlantic Canada to British Columbia, before settling in Thunder Bay, where he joined other family from Yugoslavia. Joseph met Sandra Wolotko and they were married on September 13, 1969, together raising their son, Joseph (Joey). Joseph has a successful career working in the Forestry Industry at Great Lakes Paper and in the Bush Camps until retirement in 2005.

Joseph loved the outdoors, especially fishing and spending time at the family camp in Shebandowan. He also truly enjoyed helping people. Whether it was completing odd jobs, lending equipment, mowing lawns or giving advice and sharing his knowledge, Joseph wouldn't turn anyone down. He was a well respected gentleman and was deeply loved by all of his neighbours, friends, coworkers and family.

Joseph will be missed by his son Joseph (Susan Lewkoski) and sisters Anna and Rosa as well as cousins Mark, Evo and Mary and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Sandra; his parents Josip and Marija Lozer; aunt and uncle Pauline and Auntun Sabo; brother Franjo and cousin Zlatan.

In accordance with Joseph's wishes, a private graveside service will take place in Mountainview Cemetery and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Joseph to the Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
