Mr. Joseph Otto, of Thunder Bay passed away on November 19th, 2017, with family by his side.

Joseph was born on December 28th, 1930 in Fort William and raised in the East End.  He worked as a welder at Can-Car (Bombardier) until his retirement, but never lost his love of welding and creating new and beautiful things. You could always find him tinkering away in his garage, showing off his latest creation or participating in Artisans Northwest.

Joseph had many interests, which included: camping, fishing, traveling to see family and sharing many special moments with his family and friends over coffee.

Joseph was whole heartedly devoted to his family, he was a loving husband, caring father, and supportive grandfather.

Joseph will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his  sons Greg (Eva), Bob (Karen), Jeff (Paula), his daughter Maureen Daley (Trevor), his grandchildren Ashley McIver (Dennis), Meghan (Dan), Melissa, Joseph (Kristen), Hillary, Adam, Hoyt Nowak (Mary-joe), Denise (Mike), Taurie (Chi), great grandchildren Raija and Claire, his brother Louis (Wendy),  his brother in law Bill Tennier (Susan), brother in law George Gagnon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife Barbara, parents Joseph and Anne, his sisters Theresa, Millie and Margaret, and his sister in law Monica Gagnon.

Funeral Mass to be held at St. Margaret’s Church Friday November 24th at 10:00 a.m.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor, 6 North, for their care and compassion during his stay.

If friends so desire, donation may be made in Joseph’s name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Diabetes Association.
