Joseph Petrick went to his heavenly home on July 15, 2018. Joseph was born on September 10, 1931 to George and Annie Petrick in Fort William, Ontario. Growing up in the East End, he had fond memories of his childhood and made lifelong friends.

Joseph worked at Bombardier (Canada Car) from the time he was 16 through to retirement. As he moved throughout the plant delivering parts, he made many friends.

Joseph was a devoted son taking care of his mother, helping her with preparations for family gatherings, and tending their garden at the home on Begin Place. From her, he inherited great cooking skills. His siblings could count on him for support. He was a generous uncle to his nieces and nephews always remembering them and their families on special occasions.

Joseph’s faith was important to him. When he moved to Pinewood Court, he often mentioned how he missed his church family and the Sunday worship services at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Joseph is survived by his brother Peter (Lahja), sister-in-law Kay Petrick, as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives in Canada, United States, and Slovakia. Predeceased by parents Annie and George Petrick; brothers Andrew, George, and John; sisters Annie Dzurik, Mary Majernick, Lily Helget, and Margaret Zigante; and other relatives.

The family thanks the staff of Kingfisher at Pinewood Court for the care and support provided to Joseph.

A private family service will follow at a later date.

“He lives and grants me daily breath; He lives and I shall conquer death; He lives my mansion to prepare; He lives to bring me safely there.”
