Josephine, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Friday September    29th, 2017.

Josephine was predeceased by her brother Walter, parents Mike and Katherine (Solar) Rapita and sisters Mary Henderson (Sandy) and Emily Tutka (Nick) and their spouses. The sisters were very close and held a remarkable bond throughout their lives.  Josephine was the proud Auntie Jo (AJ) to and is survived by her nephew Sandy Henderson (Pat), nieces Sheila Hicks (Howard), Patti Uchman and Donna Tutka, as well as great nieces and nephew Karen, Kristy, and Jon and her 6 great - great nieces and nephews.

After completing Normal School, she followed the career of teacher /educator in Thunder Bay until her retirement. Josephine was a very accomplished and dedicated teacher who loved her students and frequently entertained family with classroom stories.  She has left a legacy with the kids who were in her classes and her colleagues with whom she collaborated and made many lifelong friendships.

Josephine enjoyed theatre and travel and saw much of the world with friends and family. Religion was an important aspect of Josephine’s life and she was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Cross.

A Funeral Mass for Josephine will be held at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Cross, 415 Victoria Ave. W. in Thunder Bay at 10:00 am Friday, October 6th followed by a reception in the church hall.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice or the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Cross.
