It is with a broken heart that the mother of Joshua Nicholas Trotz announces the unexpected passing of her only son (Star Shine) on Monday, July 10, 2017.

Joshua was born on August 16, 1988 in McKellar General Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

He is survived by his mother Janis DeCorte, his two sons Tristan and Jasper Trotz and their grandparents Wanita and Dan Collins. He is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends that were considered like family. He will be deeply missed by all, especially by his two best friends Barry and Rene.

Joshua was raised in the East End and Westfort neighbourhoods. He attended various public schools and attended Westgate High School. He was also a member of Fort William First Nation. In Josh’s teen years, he enjoyed attending Isshin-Ryu/Karate classes and the Thunder Bay Boys and Girls Club and the Thunder Bay Harbour Youth Club. Joshua loved his music and loved playing Nerf Wars, Xbox, and Playstation with his two boys. He also enjoyed weight lifting and mountain biking. Joshua was a very loving child and young man with a big heart. He was always smiling and offering hugs to those he loved. He would always help friends in need and share his home with them to offer them a safe space.

Joshua was predeceased by his Nanny Margaret Young, father Morris Earl Trotz and numerous other relatives.

Visitation and prayers will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 7-9 pm at St. Anne’s Church with Funeral Services being held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church located at 126 Mission Road, Fort William First Nation.

Cremation and burial to follow at a later date. If friends and family so desire in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joshua’s memory to the Thunder Bay Harbour Youth or Thunder Bay Boys and Girls Club.
