Mrs. Joyce Bilodeau, age 74 years, a resident of Pinewood Court, Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2017, with family by her side.
Joyce Emma Murphy was born on September 21, 1942 in New Richmond, Quebec and moved to Jellicoe, Ontario in 1959. This is where she met Fernand Bilodeau and they married in June of 1960. They resided in Jellicoe with their two children and later moved to Thunder Bay.
Joyce always had an inviting home, with the door open to visitors, which always left her smiling. She was also a long-time foster parent, caring for many children. She was a past member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and Oliver Road Recreation Centre. Joyce also enjoyed camping in the summer and spending cherished time with her family.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her son Daniel (Vicky) Bilodeau, daughter Carolle (Gaspar) Cerqueira; five grandchildren Andy Bilodeau, Dylan Bilodeau, Stephan (Kristi Ann) Cerqueira, Kayla (Ryan) Cerqueira, and Kiarra (Joseph) Cerqueira; her great-granddaughter, Ainsley; two brothers, Vernon (Marie) Murphy, Ronnie (Betty) Murphy; her sister, Marielle Tardif; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Fernand Bilodeau, her parents, her brother Mario Murphy and brother-in-law Marcel Tardif.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla, V.G. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service as well as during the reception. Interment will follow the reception in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3200 Oliver Road.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to the Centre for Complex Diabetes Care at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre or The Kidney Foundation of Canada – Northern Superior Chapter.
