Joyce Gwendeline Arvelin, age 84 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Monday, November 28, 2016 with family by her side.
Born in St. James, Manitoba on February 28, 1932, Joyce moved to Port Arthur as a child. In her younger years, she was employed by the Port Arthur General Hospital as a nurses’ aid for over 13 years. Following that, she raised her family. She enjoyed all sorts of crafts.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Joy Berish of Memphis, Tennessee (presently here); granddaughter Stephany Potinteau; 2 great grandchildren Drake and Skylar Potinteau; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Eunice Cade; husband Alex; 2 sisters Pauline and Dorkis and brother Melbourn.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Pastor Matthew Diegel of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens will follow the reception.
