It is with deepest sympathy that the family announce the passing of Joyce Smith at the age of 92 at Roseview Manor in Thunder Bay on June 17, 2018.

Joyce was born on May 6, 1926 in Fort Frances and excelled at school attending college at a young age. She was devoted to her large extended family of aunts and cousins, always willing to help out. Her kindness was evident throughout her life.

She married Ginter on October 16, 1954 and moved to Ear Falls in 1968. Upon retirement they owned Happy Time Resort in Kashabowie, and spent many happy years by the water until Ginter’s death in 1995. She then moved to Thunder Bay where she lived on her own until she moved to Roseview in February.

Joyce is survived by her son Gerry (of Alma, MB), daughters Donna Rees and Laurie (Brian) Small (of Thunder Bay), and Barbara (Dennis) Rushton (of St. Albert, AB); grandchildren Mitchell (Jackie) Rees, Landon Rees, Jessica Rushton, Jeremy Rushton, Mackenzie Small, Lauren (Kevin) Oger, and Dillon Small; as well as 5 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Ginter, son Rodney, infant daughters Dixie and Kathleen, parents Agnes and Pete Wolden, brother Ernest, and sister Ruby McEvoy.

The family has honoured her wishes for cremation, and a private family interment will be held at a later date.

Special thanks to Shirley and Rob as well as Pat and Barry for your friendship, visits and treats over the years. God bless you.

She was the kindest, sweetest lady who gave her all to everyone and she will be missed by each person who knew her.
