Juliet was born on August 13, 1981 to Tommy and Liza McKay at the Sioux Lookout hospital.  She grew up in Kitchenumaykoosib Inninuwug, Ontario.  She was a happy child, playing with her cousins.  She loved science and got herself a telescope at a young age.  She talked of her dream of becoming a doctor.  When her parents separated, Julie became quite responsible for her younger siblings.  She graduated from High School.

At age 17 she met Christopher Fox and he came to be the love of her life. Julie moved to Bearskin Lake to be with him. Together they had 2 children in Bearskin Lake, Dylan and Lewis.  Julie worked at the store and later as an addiction worker there. They got married in December, 2006.

Julie decided to go back to school for more education so they moved to Thunder Bay. Keandre was born here almost right away and she juggled a new born baby and college at the same time, determined to do well at both. She got a degree in Outdoor Recreation and then went on to Lakehead University to continue her goals.

But when tragedy hit her family again and again, school became too overwhelming and she was unable to finish her degree.

She worked hard to keep her family together.  In 2014 Julie decided to move to Arborg, Manitoba with her 3 boys in an attempt to make a fresh start.  They lived there for 9 months before returning back to Thunder Bay.  Adrianna and Owen were born back in Thunder Bay.  In 2020 she became a proud grandmother to Sam.

Julie continued to struggle to overcome much trauma and addiction.  She tried so hard in so many ways to get back on track. Her deepest pain was not being with her children all the time.

Julie died in her own apartment on May 15, 2021.  She was predeceased by a baby in 2000, her Mother Liza Mckay, Grandparents Steven & Juliet McKay, Grandparents Adam & Emily Shoomin, brother Daniel, and cousins and extended family.

She leaves behind her 5 children: Dylan Fox (age 20), Lewis Fox (age 17), Keandre Fox (age 14), Adrianna Fox (age 5) and Owen Fox (age 4), her grandson Sam (age 11 months); her brothers Dwight, Brad and Tim, and sisters Danielle & Maxine,  and brother Nathaniel Shingabish, and sister Jessie Penner.

Julie loved music and making friends.  She connected easily with people.  She was a good listener as well as a fun, spontaneous person, always ready for new adventures. Julie was not afraid of a challenge and was a willing learner.

She loved her children dearly and was a very proud Mother.  She will be missed by many.

There will be a private visitation and service on Thursday May 20, 2021 starting at 6pm.  You may view the livestream by using the following link: www.livememorialservices.com/Home/ServiceDetail/13400
