Jurgen Walter Kirchmann, age 85, of Thunder Bay, passed away suddenly at home. He was born November 15, 1938 in Stolp, Germany. At the age of 18 he came to Canada aboard the MS Arosa Sun and settled down in Port Arthur. He was employed as a maintenance manager with ADM and he retired in 1996 after 34 years of service. In his earlier days, he enjoyed being physically active outdoors running with the Metre Eater running club and lately playing badminton at the 55 Plus Centre.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Gerlinde) of 63 years; his children Robert (Gina) and Susanne (Raymond Wodar); his grandchildren Leah (Dan Peters), Shaun, Julian, Allison (Matthew Downs) and Rachel; his sister Barbel Nentwig, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Cremation has taken place and no visitation or funeral service will be held as per Jurgen’s wishes. A private family gathering is planned for a later date.
