Katarzyna (Katherine) Kuziora, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 30, 2016 at Hogarth-Riverview Manor.
Katherine was born in Jastkowice, Poland on April 20, 1922, the second youngest in a family of 12 children. She immigrated to Canada in 1958 with her husband and young son, after much strife in the post war Eastern Europe.
They were subsequently blessed with the birth of their daughter Elizabeth in 1965. She and her beloved husband Mike were fixtures in the ethnic neighbourhood of Simpson St., owning and operating a tailoring, dry cleaning and Laundromat business.
Losing her husband at the age of 59, her focus became her children and grandchildren. Katherine was an avid and resourceful gardener.
She was a devout Roman Catholic and a long-standing member of St. Casimir (Polish) Parish in Thunder Bay. Katarzyna is survived by her loving son Stanley and daughter Elizabeth (Mark), her grandchildren Pascal, Benoit and Stephane Kuziora, Katherine (Derek) Donaldson, Jacqueline Mersch (Dylan) and great grand-daughters Hazel Kuziora and Hailey McGregor.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 03, 2016, when family and friends will gather for funeral mass at 12:00pm (noon) at St. Casimir’s Church celebrated by Rev. Ireneusz Stadler. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements in care of the Blake Funeral Chapel.
The family would like to acknowledge the professional level of care their Mother received as a resident of both Grandview Lodge and Hogarth-Riverview Manor.
Her long life was a testament to her strong work ethic and spiritual devotion. Katarzyna Kuziora will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
