It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Katherine (Kay) Geravelis on July 1, 2016.

Kay passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Kay was born on January 4, 1932 to Maybelle and Jack Kennelly.

She was raised in Westfort and attended St. Martin’s School. She devoted 37 years to the Vale Community Centre, joining it when it was still in the planning stages.

She retired on her 80th birthday.  You would always see her wearing her blue apron and her keys around her neck. Throughout the years Kay received many awards for her volunteering efforts.  She was most proud of the two Queens Jubilee awards she received.

The first was the Golden Jubilee and the second was the Diamond Jubilee. Kay married George Geravelis on November 28, 1957 and they had five children. She is survived by her children; Jo-Anne (Rob), Johnny (Adrianna), Debbie  (Richard), Danny (Chasity) and Steve (Patti).

She also has 12 grandchildren; Stephanie (John), Nicholas (Mylee), Christopher (Olivia), Cody (Trish), Jenna (John), Jordan (Hilary), Matthew, Patrick, Kaitlyn (Todd), Sara, Nick (Kaya) and Alexzander as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by brothers Allen Kennelly (Dolores) and Jack Kennelly (Nancy). Kay also has two great grandchildren, Faith and Gracie Kay. Kay was predeceased by her parents Maybelle and Jack; her husband George; brothers Leonard, Edward and Danny (Buddy) and twin great granddaughters Hanna and Hallie.

Funeral services for Kay will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:30AM at the Blake Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Sawchuk officiating, with a private interment to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the Cancer Society  would be greatly appreciated.

Katherine Geravelis will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
