The family of Kathryn (Kathy) Elizabeth Williams are deeply saddened to announce her unexpected passing at the age of 75, on February 25, 2023, at the TBRHSC, with her family by her side.

Kathy was a caring daughter, wife, mother, aunt, mother-in-law, grandma, friend and neighbour.

Kathy was born on July 11, 1947, to John & Alfreda Raketti, in Shaunovan, Saskatchewan and moved to Port Arthur at a young age.  Kathy attended Algonquin Public School and Hammarskjold High School, later travelling to Calgary, for a short time, to take a hairdressing course.

Kathy met the love of her life, Don Williams, in 1962, and they married on January 21, 1967. She was a loving mother to her boys, Trevor and Terry. The family spent many wonderful years on road trips, camping in provincial parks, and countless nostalgia-filled evenings at camp reminiscing of the good ol’ days.

Kathy was devoted to staying home and raising her family and was an extraordinary cook and baker and was the real “Mrs. Clean”.  She spoiled all three of her boys by taking such good care of them.  She was also a devoted daughter to her mother, and in her mother’s later years, was an extraordinary caregiver to her.

Kathy was very fashionable and liked good clothes, shoes and jewelry.  Kathy was also a gifted storyteller and enjoyed regaling others about family history or about one of her biggest passions, her love for movies, tv series, and music.  She often gave Google and Alexa a run for their money when she could recall specific facts on demand about pop culture.  When she wasn’t too busy taking care of everybody, she could be found popcorn in hand, catching up on her shows and films on Netflix and Plex.

Kathy was thrilled to be “Grandma Kathy”, to Brooke & Ashley and loved to spoil them with girly things, teaching them how to bake, and buying them jewelry.  She was so proud of her lovely granddaughters and enjoyed spending quality time with them at every opportunity.

Kathy was excited to be able to travel to England where Don was working. She especially loved her shopping trips to Duluth and enjoyed travelling through the States. After Don’s retirement, they were grateful to spend some winters away in Florida and Texas.

Kathy enjoyed spending time at their camp on Lake Superior at Johnson’s Landing with her family, especially celebrating their combined July birthdays!

We will miss her dearly; she had a happy and fulfilling life and we will cherish all the wonderful memories we have and are grateful for her being in our lives.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Don, son Terry, granddaughters, Brooke & Ashley and daughter-in-law, Kristin.

Also surviving are brother and sister-in-law Craig & Barbara Williams, along with their children, Jessica McDonald, Jonathan and Jason Williams and their families. Many other extended family members survive.

Kathy is predeceased by her parents John Raketti and Alfreda Mattson, her in-laws, Alvin & Helvi Williams and her son Trevor in 2020.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street on Wednesday March 8th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
