August 10, 1931 – February 1, 2015

It is with great sadness that the family of Kenny MacLeod announces his passing.  Born August 10, 1931 in Stornoway, Scotland, Kenny attended the local school of Nicolson Institute. He discovered a love for the bagpipes at the early age of 9 and this love carried him throughout his life. After leaving the British Army, he joined the Lovat Scouts, Royal Artillery and became a Pipe Major, a position he held until he left Scotland to come to Canada in May of 1964.

After securing employment here, his wife Chrissie Ann and his two sons joined him in October of that year. Kenny worked in a variety of jobs, the last one being as a custodian for the Lakehead Board of Education. He retired from this position in 1989. One thing that remained consistent throughout his life was his love of the Pipes. While able, he continued to play, teach and compose his own music. In recent years Kenny stayed close to home but enjoyed spending time with his son Don as they went out on their daily rides throughout the Community.

Kenny was predeceased by his parents, Annie and Alex MacLeod, his daughter Annie Margaret and his son Ken. Kenny is survived by his wife of 61 years, Chrissy Ann, his son Don, daughter-in-law Brenda (Ken), all of Thunder Bay, brother Alastair and his wife Christine, nieces Joyce, Sandra and Iso of Scotland.

As per Kenny’s wishes, no formal funeral will be held.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Joseph’s Foundation, Acquired Brain Injury Program, or to BISNO, Brain Injury Services of Northern Ontario would be appreciated.
