It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Peterson on August 27, 2018 in his home with his family by his side. An extraordinary husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Ken was born December 12, 1949 in Port Arthur to Eugene and Adele Peterson. He grew up happily on Crown Street and attended local schools. He built a successful career in sales starting with motorcycles and snowmobiles and opened the first windshield repair shop called the Windshield Doctor, but his passion was for cars. He spent several years with Pinewood until he branched out on his own and established Ken Peterson Sales operating for the past 22 years. Ken was elected to the Thunder Bay Hydro Commission in 1994 and served 2 terms. In 2000 he was elected to the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council and was re-elected every 3 years until his retirement due to his illness.

He liked fishing and camping at Northern Light Lake where he made lifelong friends. He also loved to travel and he looked forward to the annual trips taken to other countries but the travel he loved most was on his Harley with Lynn riding coast to coast taking in all the adventures that he could. He rode that bike every day that he could. Ken loved cars, travel and his Harley but he loved his family more. He was so proud of them and showed and told them every day of his life.

Ken is survived by the love of his life and wife of 49 years Lynn; his daughters Karen (Shawn), Kelly (Mike) and Krista (Steve); grandchildren Stephany (Travis), Ryan, Marcus, Kasey, Spencer (Amber), Taylor (Neal), Grace (Hayden), Mason (Kim), Breanna (Jesse) Sophie, Gavin and Lucas; great grandchildren Seryna, Elizabeth, Jase, Quinn and Levi; Leland and Maeva; brothers Brian (Vicki), Clifton (Lima) and David and step-mother Isobel; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

He was predeceased by his grandfather Salomon, beloved grandmother Vieno, mother Adele Olson, father Eugene, brother Timothy, uncle Allan and his parents-in-law Bob and Mary Elsey.

Services for Ken will take place on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Rev. Ed Long. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service time. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to Our Kids Count or ProKids would be greatly appreciated.
