It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle on July 4th, 2018. His family by his side and after a short illness Ken went to the hands of our Lord.
Born in Fort William to Walter and Cecelia Hacio (Backor), raised in the East End and educated at St. Peter’s and St. Patrick’s High he started his life’s journey.
He spent many years at Great Lakes Paper and in the early 1980’s he opened Ken-Mar Auto Wrecking. He loved cars of all types and many a vehicle showed up on the streets of Thunder Bay.
His home, garden, family and gourmet cooking were his passions.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Sharon (Otway), his beloved daughter and son-in-law Kendall and Richard Despres, his daughter Marissa Jordan and grandchildren Gianna and Elise of Minneapolis; sister-in-law Sheila Olson, his beloved sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Jim McCallum, nieces Melanie, Meaghan, Dr. Caitlin McCallum and great nephew Tyler.
Cheryl, Jim and Dr. Cait were at his side all through his illness showing their love and providing comfort. His pet dog of twelve years Teko will miss his buddy Ken.
He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Celia, in-laws Bud and Irene Otway, brother-in-law Kenneth Olson.
As per Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
