Krista Bieniek, just shy of her 80th birthday passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital, hospice unit on July 17, 2022.
Krista was born in a small village once known as Friedeberg (currently Žulová, Czechia) in August of 1942. She emigrated to Canada with her parents in the spring of 1953, landing in Montreal. The family settled permanently in Thunder Bay soon after.
Krista loved the outdoors, especially when it was sunny. She loved gardening, hiking, swimming in local lakes, skiing, kayaking, bonfires and longs walk along Lake Superior. She loved to travel and visited many places around the world. She spent winters in Florida in her later years with her partner, Richard.
Krista will be missed and fondly remembered by her children Ray Bieniek and Susan (Steve) Morris, her partner of 20 years Richard Rowson, her grandchildren Natasha and Melissa Bieniek, and Sabrina, Rachel and Ian Morris.
As per Krista’s wishes there will be no funeral. There will be a Celebration of Life later in August. In lieu of gifts, donations can be made to the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre. Online condolences may be offered at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca
