On December 5th, 2018 our hearts were broken when we lost an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Len (Leonard A.H.) Anderson, resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away at the age of 79 with his family by his side after a sudden brief illness.  We were fortunate to have all of him and observe his strength and hope right to the end, when he fell asleep peacefully.

Len worked at different jobs when first starting out in life, established his own successful business for many years, and then was hired by the Port of Thunder Bay which he really enjoyed until he retired in 2004.

Len had an innocent mischievous side to him that he wasn’t afraid to use, and his smile always relieved the recipient once they realized he was teasing.  He was a kind, gentle man, and highly respected by everyone for his wisdom, advice and abilities.   He was very knowledgeable and could pretty much fix, build, replace or do anything that needed to be done.  He was also a talented musician and could play a lot of instruments just by ear along with a pleasant voice many had the privilege of enjoying over the years.  He was a regular outdoorsman for most of his life and had fond memories of many hours hunting and fishing with family and friends.  Len was an active member within the congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  His faith in the bible filled his security in life, knowing that our Creator promised a better future.

He is missed by his wife of 57 years, Margie (Margaret, nee Berube), his children Loreen Rutledge, Lenore Trodd (Lee), Len (Amanda) and Mark (Sharon), his twin granddaughters Jacie Rutledge and Jodie Rhodes (Caleb), along with a new spark of joy, great-granddaughter Camryn.  He leaves behind his only brother Larry (Irene), in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and an uncountable number of dear friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Arvid and Svea (Danielson), his sisters Vera Hovey, Helen Avery, Norma Wakefield, Ruth Billard, and his twin sister Shirley Smith.

The family received a lot of comfort from friends and family during this difficult time and send thanks to all who helped and were so supportive through the few months surrounding his sickness and passing.  Also special thanks to all who were part of his memorial, to the ones who came from out of town before and after, and to all the medical personnel who looked after him so well when at home, in the hospital and briefly in hospice.

This has been a painful interruption in our relationship with him but we long for the time we can continue our journey again on the promised paradise earth.  John 5:28,29
