Desaulniers, Leona new

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a daughter, sister, and mother Leona (Van Teeffelen) Desaulniers at the age of 57.

Leona passed away peacefully at TBRHSC on September 27, 2017 with her loved ones by her side. For many years she worked for the Royal Bank until she was diagnosed with her illness and was no longer able to work.

Leona had a big heart and was always concerned about the welfare of others even while going through her own struggles.  She always kept her family in high regard and wanted to be a part of everything as much as possible. Leona loved and appreciated her best and lifelong friend Andrea Junkala, who was always there for her in good times and in bad.

She fought a long hard fight and held on for as long as she could.  She leaves behind to mourn, her daughters Amanda and Karly, father Leo Van Teeffelen, brothers John (Susan) Van Teeffelen,  and Vincent Van Teeffelen, sisters Julia (Ted) DeLuca, and Trudy Van Teeffelen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister in law, Julie Schelling, mother Assunta Van Teeffelen , aunt Rosina Fasano from Italy, uncles Antonio and Pasquale Fabrizio from Australia and Grandmother Gertrude Van Teeffelen.

Prayers will be offered at Blake’s Funeral Chapel on Monday October 2, 2017 at 7pm.  Funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Tuesday October 3, 2017 celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G at 11 am. If friends desire, memorials to the Cerebellar Ataxia Foundation or the CNIB would be appreciated.
