It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard (Len) Baran, who left us peacefully on March 5th, 2016, at the age of 84, while surrounded by family at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Care Centre.

Len was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, in 1931, and lived a good portion of his life in Thunder Bay, with his wife Alice, and their five (5) children. In his working years, he was a committed member of the Teamsters Union.

He was also a long-standing member of the Catholic Church, which began with a membership in the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed being active, had a passion for golf, football and most things sports. Humor and funny stories were an important part of Len’s day, as he thoroughly enjoyed having fun and making others (and himself) laugh. His well-kept garden and lawn were just two of his labors-of-love that brought him much pride and joy.

But those pale in comparison to the love he felt for his devoted wife, and life partner, Alice.

Len will be sadly missed by his wife Alice; his children Deborah, Jeff (Rosanne), Barbara (Chris), Don (MaryLynn), and Dave (Suzanne); his grandchildren Eric (Reiko), Nicole (Scott), Courtney, Luke, Ben, Simon, Jason, Brian, Alexandra and Megan; his great grandchildren Ozzy and Miro; his sister Jean; his brothers Mike (Darlene) and Ron (Jeanette). He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mary, his sister Anne, his brothers Wally and Jack, and his son-in-law Toivo.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 10th, 12:10 pm, at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church - 1019 Brown Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Your prayers for Len and the family will be greatly appreciated.
