Passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with some family by his side.
Leonard is survived by his spouse Vivian Lester, brother Bernard (Tammy), sister Mary (John Blakely), Juliette Britt, Aileen Malcolm, and Theresa (Herb Goodman), numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father Walter, mother Agnes, stepmother Jane, brothers Duncan and Bob, sister Rita, step daughter Alexis Wanakamik and nephew Jacy Pierre.
Len was born in Ombabika but grew up in Thunder Bay. He attended St. Bernard's, Gron Morgan High School, and graduated from the Child and Family Worker program at Confederation College. Len worked in construction and logging in his younger years. He also worked driving Diamond taxi.
Leonard loved his friends and family, his nieces and nephews, his stepdaughters Rhoda, Vicky, Janet, Gloria, Breanne and Jamilee. He enjoyed bingo, casino slots, and followed some traditional beliefs including, pow wow and dancing. He enjoyed company, sitting around having a couple of coolies. He loved watching sports, an avid fan of Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. His smile was infectious and will be missed by all who loved him.
The funeral will take place on Saturday December 12th at 11:00 am at Jenkens Funeral Home for 30 people due to Covid restrictions. A sacred fire will be lit outside of Jenkens for those wishing to come share a prayer, a story or to visit with family members from noon Friday December 11 to Saturday December 12 at noon.
