Mrs. Leonetta Pavone, age 86 years, passed away peacefully with her family at her side in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011. 

Leonetta was born in Farindola, Pescara, Italy on Feb. 16, 1924 to Raffaela and Pietro Puccella. In 1967 she, along with her husband Ermando and their son Domenico came to Thunder Bay to join her daughter Maria. 

She was a member of the Italian Cultural Centre of Port Arthur Ladies Auxiliary and St. Anthony's Church where she sang in the Italian Choir and was a member of the C.W.L.  Leonetta enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking for her family and friends, her specialty being her grandchildren's favorite Nonni Burgers. 

Family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren were first and foremost in her life.  It was during time spent with them that she was happiest.  She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Maria (Stefano) Frattaroli, son Domenico (Linda) Pavone, grandchildren Rob (Laura) Frattaroli, Ermando  "Joey"  (Michelle) Pavone and Mandy (Justin) Camilleri, great grandchildren Rosemarie, Emily and Stefano Frattaroli and Carmine Camilleri, sister Lucia Massei of Thunder Bay and sisters and brother Livia, Santina and Mario all of Italy as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

She was predeceased by her husband Ermando in 1979. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, at 9:10 a.m. to St. Anthony's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 9:30 a.m. celebrate by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s. 

A private interment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. 

Visitation for friends will be held on Friday, Jan. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel where the Vigil Service will begin at 7 p.m.  The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of 2B at the T.B.R.H.S.C. for the care and compassion given Leonetta during her time there.
