Our wonderful grandma, Lillian Mary Carlson, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 after a long life, well lived.

She was born to Simo and Flora Maki (Kunntu) on July 10, 1922, the youngest of five children. She married the love of her life, Elmer Carlson, on July 26, 1941, and together they raised two children who went on to give them five grandchildren. After Elmer passed away in 1978, Lil lived with her daughter Sherren and son-in-law Jim in Terrace Bay for many years. She was a woman with a sense of humour and a biting wit, and always a big heart.

She is survived by five grandchildren who will never forget her towering presence, even though she was shorter than all of us – Karin (David Michelussi), Tara Kraehling, Jan (Chris) Tsegas, Darren Carlson and Lyndsay (Sean) Serino.  Her great grandchildren, ranging from 2 to 21, will carry her love of family forward – Ashley, Alyssa, Randy, Hayden, Krystina, Cameron, Evan, Adrian, Gaby, Blaine, Avery and Emmet. Also survived by her daughter-in-law Sharon Kentner who was by her side until the end, and son Roger (Irene) Carlson.

Predeceased by her husband, Elmer, who she never got over; daughter Sherren and son-in-law Jim Kraehling; her parents and siblings, Bill, Teenie, Irene, Wally, and half sisters Bertha and Ingrid.

A private family celebration in her memory will take place in the summer with interment in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma in care of arrangements.

Remember her with a shared memory and a laugh, and toast her with a glass of wine.
And we, her son and grandchildren will always hold her close...
“I carry your heart with me, I carry it in my heart, I am never without it”.
