Lillian Esther Ronald passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023 with her loving son by her side.
Lillian was born in Port Arthur on October 9, 1946. She attended McDonald Elementary School in Kaministiqua and Hillcrest High School.
Lillian began her career with the City of Thunder Bay in 1969, retiring in 2002.
Lillian married her husband Stuart in June of 1966. Lillian and Stuart loved to spend their summers on the lake. Little Sturge was one of their favourite spots. Camping and fishing with countless friends, they made amazing memories that she cherished throughout her lifetime. In later years they moved their camp to Whitefish to be closer to their grandchildren.
Lillian loved to spend time with family and making new friends. The friendships she made through the years were held close to her heart. One of Lillian’s favourite past times was crocheting. She made numerous prize winning afghans that were her treasured possessions.
Lillian was very proud when she became a Mummu to Samantha and Devin. Lillian would do many things to keep her grandchildren happy like camping on the living room floor and rewatching Titanic over and over again, but her favourite thing to do was taking them for ice cream.
Lillian is predeceased by her husband Stuart, parents Mary and Jack, and brother-in-law Lauri. Lillian will be forever missed by her son Edwin (Donna), Samantha, Devin (Elysia), brother Bill (Jude), sister Celia, sister-in-law(s) Eleanor, Helen, Linda (Austin) and brother-in-law Ken (Shirley), nieces and nephew Laura, Karen, Keith (Rebecca).
She was the best mother, mother-in-law, Mummu, sister and friend. She will forever be remembered.
Funeral Services will be held for Lillian and Stuart Ronald on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Sargent and Son Ltd., 21 Court Street North. Interment will take place immediately following the service at O’Conner Cemetery. Following the interment, the family will host a Celebration of Life, In honour of Lillian and Stuart, at the Slovak Legion, 801 Atlantic Avenue from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank Hogarth Riverview Manor staff on 6 North for all of their love, kindness and support provided to Lillian during her time there.
