Ms. Lina Fazzari, age 77 years, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 14, 2010.

Lina was born on November 4, 1932 in Cetraro, Italy to Allessandro and Teresina (Rizzuti) Fazzari. She was raised in Serra Padace where she lived until immigrating to Canada in 1965. In Italy she was trained as a Seamstress and upon her arrival in Port Arthur, quickly found work at Russell Tailor Shop and continued in her profession at St. Joseph's General Hospital until her retirement in 1992. As an accomplished seamstress, her talents were often sought by others and she was always willing to lend a hand. Lina had many friends and always enjoyed time spent with them. She loved to travel, especially her trips to Italy to spend time with her family. She also learned to play golf later in life, and always looked forward to Ladies Night at Centennial Golf Course.

Lina was an independent woman who often thought of others before herself. She was a natural caregiver and was always available to help those who needed it. She had a cheerful personality and a great outlook on life, and had great compassion for others and cared deeply for her family and friends. Her closest relationship was with her sister Rose, whom she spent many hours with working side by side in the sewing room at St. Joseph's Hospital. Lina had great faith and was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Women's League.

Lina is survived by her niece and nephews Leo (Shauna) Scarcello, Frank (Rita) Scarcello and Lorraine (Gary) Person; brothers Mario (Velia) Fazzari and Genaro (Shirley) Fazzari; sisters-in-law Gilda and Emelia Fazzari; great niece and nephews Michael, Alexa, Marco, Nico, Max and Mark. Other relatives also survive in Canada, Italy and the United States.

She is predeceased by her parents; brothers Francesco and Alfred Fazzari, sister and brother-in-law Rosaria and Attilio Scarcello and a sister in infancy.

Funeral services for the late Ms. Lina Fazzari will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 leaving the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma at 8:50 AM to St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM. Entombment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening after 6:00 PM in the EVEREST CHAPEL with the Vigil offered at 7:45 PM.

If friends so desire, donations to a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
