<p> Mrs. Linda Parhiala (nee Toivonen), age 69 years, passed away peacefully in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013.</p> <p> She was predeceased by her parents Arvo and Seiti, sister Aura Merkosky and infant brother Weikko.</p> <p> She is survived by her son Brian (Jodi), daughter Brenda (Mario), their father Eino, cherished granddaughters Kristy, Amy and Robyn as well as by numerous relatives in Canada, Finland and the U.S.A.</p> <p> Linda graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1962 and recently attended her 50th Class Reunion. Following high school she started her career with the C.I.B.C. where she worked at various branches and developed many lifelong relationships with both customers and coworkers alike.</p> <p> Illness forced her retirement but she never let her health issues interfere with living her life to the fullest of her capabilities.</p> <p> With the assistance of family, friends, neighbours and excellent caregivers, including her dear companion and pet Oreo, she was able to live out her life at home.</p> <p> Linda had a great love of life and lived it to the fullest. Keen to keep up with technology, Linda enrolled in computer classes and loved to spend time surfing the net. She loved her music, especially Waylon, Willie and &ldquo;The Boys&rdquo;.</p> <p> Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Jari Lahtinen presiding.</p> <p> The interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
