It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved, Lisa Hautamaki, on March 23, 2021 at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, with her family by her side.

Lisa was born in Thunder Bay on December 10, 1975 to Eila and Taisto Hautamaki. She grew up in Port Arthur with her four sisters, attending Prospect School and Hillcrest High. Her favourite class was carpentry and she still has her entertainment unit she made.

She loved being around people and in her younger years, enjoyed working at Keskitupa, Eatons and Dimitris Restaurant. Lisa was the heart and sole of Dutchak Scrap Metal, where she worked for 18 years. People were drawn to Lisa and her outgoing, caring personality, bringing everyone together as a family and making customers feel welcome. She was recognized everywhere for being in the commercials for Dutchak Scrap.

Family was important to Lisa and her daughter, Taylor, was her pride and joy. They had a very special bond, spending a lot of time with each other, talking, laughing, travelling, watching their favourite TV shows, wearing their matching pajamas. Lisa was so proud of everything Taylor accomplished. She welcomed all of Taylor’s friends into her home and treated them like her own.

After her first trips to Los Angeles and Cuba with Taylor, Lisa insisted we do family vacations every year, encouraging everyone to come along. When she came back from one, she would start planning the next year’s vacation. We will always have our memories of the time we spent together.

Anyone who knew Lisa, will tell you that she always had a smile on her face and could make you laugh. She was the one you went to when you needed to talk or just wanted to be cheered up. She always enjoyed getting together with family and friends and at our yearly Christmas parties, would be on the dance floor all night. Our family dinners together were the best, talking, laughing, eating and watching all of her great nieces and nephews, running around and playing.

Lisa will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Taylor Forrester (Quinten); sisters Taina Sitar (Grant), Tuula Cryer (Terry), Debbie Hautamaki (Rob), and Lori Dutchak (Doug); nephews, David, Andrew, Adam; nieces, Samantha, Holly (Madison, Breanna, Riley), Katie (Carson), Amanda (Carter), Nikki (Ivory, Kianna, Bronwyn, Kaleah) and Becky. She had a close friendship with her cousins, Tessa, Gail, Tammy and Tracey, as well as her large extended family and her many friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Eila and Taisto Hautamaki; grandparents, Arvo and Aili Kuoppala; Taylor’s father, Scott Forrester; and grandmother of Taylor, Barb Cousineau. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation. Due to COVID, a celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near.
Still loved, still missed and held so dear.
You will always be in our hearts and will be forever missed.
