Lloyd Ollie Olafson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lloyd Raymond Olafson, age 82 years, on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.

Much of Lloyd’s life centred around wood; from the lumber camps in NW Ontario, to the Abitibi Provincial Paper Mill in Thunder Bay, to building his own house and building wood, scale model aircraft.  He was always an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing in “God’s Country.” He enjoyed entertaining friends and family with jokes and stories.

Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Phyllis; daughters Jo Anne, Lynn and Lois (John); three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents Karl (Charlie) and Elsa, brothers Bert and Ken, and nephew August (Gus).

A special Thanks to the Regional’s Renal Unit staff.

Cremation has taken place.  Family and friends are welcome to attend the interment which will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3200 Oliver Road, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 followed by a get together from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at St. Margaret's Church, 88 Clayte Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society.
