Lora Belanger

It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to Lora Joy Belanger on Monday, March 28, 2022 with her dear friend by her side.

Lora would always make her presence known with her smile and joyous laugh. There was never a doubt that she was in a room. She enjoyed being stylish, coiffed and adorned with her favourite jewellery pieces. She was never one to beat around the bush. She commanded respect but also gave it.

Lora will be sadly missed by her friends at St Joe’s Heritage and her CIBC friends that she kept in contact with even after her retirement. Many stories of her “days at the bank” were shared and cherished. She enjoyed many bus trips across the border with friends trying her luck at the casino. She loved to entertain and took great pride in making everything perfect right down to the smallest detail.

Last summer she could be seen with a big smile while driving her new scooter around the property.
Throughout Lora’s life figure skating was a sport she enjoyed immensely. She spent much time with her cherished friend Marlyn, training, performing, and teaching. As children, their mornings were spent training, stopping for a bagged hot breakfast at the rink then walking together to school. That bond would remain a lifetime and extend generations.

She was an avid collector of antiques and jewellery and enjoyed every piece of her collection. She loved shopping for new and old treasures to add to her enjoyment. In later years Lora would venture to Victoria, BC during the winter months with her cherished husband Victor. Her time in Victoria made her happy and she continued to winter there after Victor's passing. Upon arrival, the hotel staff would have her car tuned up, walker ready and her selected dishes placed neatly in her room. The staff were truly family, and she cherished their friendship. Lora was strong in her faith and is finally at peace with her late husband Victor.

Lora Joy Belanger lived a full life and those that had the privilege of knowing her are better people for it.

As per Lora’s wishes cremation has taken place and she has been laid to rest in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Cemetery beside her beloved husband, Victor. Arrangements have been entrusted to the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
