On Monday, January 7, 2019, Lorne Muir, loving husband and father of two children passed away after a long battle with COPD at the age of 63.

Lorne was born on August 9, 1955 in Thunder Bay to Ruth and George Muir. He worked at the paper mill followed by a career in real estate as both an agent and a broker at Action Realty. On August 1, 1997 he married Thuy Le at Sandstone Lake, his sacred place. Through this marriage, they amalgamated their families growing from two children to six: Shannon, Shane, Monika, Bao, Trang and Tuan.

Lorne had a passion for hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp on Sandstone Lake. One of his life’s ambitions when fishing was to catch the “Sandstone Monster”. Until his last breaths, he was dreaming and planning to visit Sandstone in the summer and to go speckle trout fishing on one of the local lakes. He was known for his quick wit, making people laugh, his kind and compassionate manner and his “born to be wild” spirit.

Lorne is survived by his mother and father, Ruth and George Muir, his wife, Le, sister Kim (John), brother Wayne (Jennifer), daughter Shannon, son Shane (Natalie) and grandsons Emmitt and Kyan.

Thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare workers that have supported Lorne and family throughout his journey with COPD, both in and out of the hospital.

As per Lorne's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to WESTFORT FUNERAL CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.

If friends desire, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation
