It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Lorraine Elin Chauvin on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 8:00 am at the age of 72 years after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lorraine was born in Fort William, April 16, 1944, to parents Karl (Evert) and Eldeen Carlson. She attended local schools then started her career at McKeller General Hospital, until she met the love of her life Ted. They were married November 11, 1967 and enjoyed 29 years of marriage until his passing in 1996.

Family and friends were very important to her. She was an excellent cook and baker and her home was always open and the coffee pot on. She was very proud of her grandchildren's accomplishments.

Lorraine was very active in volunteering in the community with various organizations. Faith was very important to her and she was an active member of Current River United Church. Lorraine loved daily coffee group with friends and family and her monthly trips to Grande Portage with her cousin Patricia. She especially enjoyed a good game of cribbage.

Lorraine is survived by her two daughters Rhonda Chauvin, Marlene Eckman (Jeff), adopted daughter Chrissy Carrier; two grandchildren Ashley and Larry Eckman; sister Anna Merritt, twin brother Lorne Carlson (Marilyn); sisters-in-law, Angie Carlson, Delores Bryan (Gerald), Gerri Chauvin; brother-in-law Albert Sitch (Angie) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong family friend Bernie Lundberg.

She was predeceased by her husband Ted, parents Karl and Eldeen Carlson, brother Victor Carlson, In-laws Clarence and Beatrice Chauvin, sisters-in-law Sonja Carlson and Beverley Sitch, brothers-in-law Butch Merritt, Clarence Chauvin Jr., niece Corina Carlson, nephew Christopher Bryan. Her nephew, Kevin Merritt also passed away on November 12, 2016 at 10:00 pm.

As per Lorraine's wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, November 16 at 10:30 am with a Celebration of her Life to follow at 12:30 pm at her daughter Marlene's house.

If friends so desire, donations made in memory of Lorraine to Northern Cancer Fund or St. Joseph's Care Group-Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
