Mrs. Lucia “Emma” Ceci (nee Mandarino) age 89 years, passed away peacefully with her family by her side in the early morning of Friday, January 29, 2021 in Hogarth Riverview Manor.

Emma was born on June 20, 1931 in Paterno, Calabria, Italy to Francesco and Rosanna Mandarino. She met Giovanni Ceci and they married in 1952. In early 1953, her husband left Italy, destined for Canada and a better life. Giovanni was travelling to Canada when their son, Philip was born. In 1956 Emma and Philip crossed the ocean to be reunited as a family. They settled in Port Arthur, in the family home on Ontario Street. The family welcomed three daughters, Angela, Maria and Rosanna. Emma and Giovanni lived for each-other. They worked together to make a beautiful life for their family.

Emma was employed as a cook at numerous restaurants. She loved gardening and cooking. She welcomed any opportunity to make food for family and friends. Her door and heart were open to anyone wanting to visit and eat, eat, eat! She was a long time parishioner of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church.

Survived by her children, Philip (Arlene) Ceci, Angela (Dwayne) Moulding of Calgary, AB, Rosanna (Jerry) Osmulski and Maria (Bruno) Gollino; grandchildren Tracy (Ian) Watts, Karen (Jason) Mitchell, Jason Ceci, Darren Moulding, Heather (Stephen) Jensen, Stacey Osmulski and Juliann Gollino; great grandchildren, Logan, Braydan, Reese, Brady, Giovanni and Arianna and brother Armando Mandarino in Italy. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive here and in Italy.

Predeceased by her husband, Giovanni in 1999; her parents and siblings, Oreste, Nicola, Luigi, Francesco, Rita and Sarah.

Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Lucia Ceci will be held privately on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma led by Fr. Luigi Filippini of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church. Entombment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A recording of the services will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website the following day.

As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, the attendance is restricted and a record of attendance must be maintained. Wearing of masks or face coverings by everyone and maintaining social distancing of 6 feet is mandatory for those attending.
