Lucille Anne Hakanen

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucille “Lucy” Hakanen, at the age of 68 years, she passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. 

Lucy was born in Terrace Bay, Ontario and raised in Fort William, Ontario. She eventually met her loving husband Marvin and moved to Kaministiquia, Ontario. A hard worker with a heart of gold, Lucy was willing to do anything from pumping water by hand to chopping firewood, it was nothing out of the ordinary for her. She lived a simple but fulfilling life that revolved around her family and friends. Lucy was compassionate to everyone without judgement, welcoming anyone and bringing joy to all. An amazing cook, musician, and story teller; Lucy will truly be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend Lucy was truly an amazing woman in so many ways. Lucy had a special relationship with God. She spent many years involved with Lappe Lutheran Church where she loved to express herself with her handwritten songs. Inspiring everyone who had the opportunity to listen.

Lucy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Marvin, daughter Bobbi-Jo (Mark), son Harley (Tammy), grandchildren Maranda, Terry, Mattea, Kaia and Caeden, sister Lorraine, nephews Anthony and Justin. Along with many other numerous friends and family members.

Funeral Services for Lucy will take place on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Pastor Neil Otke. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service time.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Lucy’s memory to the Sick Kids Foundation.
