Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23: 6

Lucy Matilda Perry (Tillie) entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 26, 2022 faithfully following him even unto death as she had done from the moment he saved her.

Born on November 4, 1924 on Gooseberry Island, Newfoundland to Fred and Margaret Perry, the second of four children, she lived there until she left home at a young age to begin her working career. Serving in the Air Force during World War II she met Eric and married him in 1947. They settled in Fort William, Ontario and other than ten years lived in BC, they spent the rest of their years living in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Lovingly remembered by her children, Trudy (Don) Handy, Kip (Norma) Perry, Cathy (Dave) Bishop, Robbie Perry, Debbie (Greg) Allison, Lisa (Joe) DaSilva, daughter in-law Rhonda Tschirsch, John (Cherie) Perry, 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Reunited in heaven with her husband of nearly 70 years Eric, son David Tschirsch, and grandson Ryan Bishop. Survived also by her sister Peggy Munroe, and brother Bill (Dorothy) Perry, and sisters in-law Emily Perry, Olga Perry, Eva Perry, Tilly (Tom) Bell along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Follower of Jesus, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Tillie lived a good long life loving her God and faithfully serving others. While she held numerous jobs over her years, running the bed and breakfast out of their home might’ve been her favorite. However, none of those jobs compared to the one she had and did so diligently at home, raising their children and offering the best hospitality to whoever walked through the door. She opened her home and heart generously to countless people, always ready with delicious food and good conversation. Tillie’s hands were seldom idle. When she wasn’t cooking or baking, she could be found sewing, quilting, or working on a crossword puzzle. She loved a good cup of tea in a china cup and a piece of toasted homemade bread before bed, Salvation Army songs, and telling stories of her life and all the people she met along the way. Most of all she loved her Savior and treasured his word, active in her church and hosting bible study in her home even during her later years. She leaves a beautiful legacy of character and faith.

A memorial service via zoom will be held Sunday, August 14th, 2022 at 3pm (please contact dandthandy@gmail.com for an invitation to participate). Private interment will take place in Mountainview Cemetery prior. If friends and family so desire, donations in Tillie’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army or Dr. David Jeremiah/Turning Point Ministries.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
