Succo Luigi new

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband and nonno Luigi Bruno Succo on Sunday October 22, 2017, in Thunder Bay Ontario, at the age of 71 years.  Luigi was born March 2, 1946 in Canebola, Udine, Italy and was the youngest of three children born to Umbertina and Amedeo Succo.   He immigrated to Thunder Bay in the fall of 1967 in the search for a more prosperous life.  It was soon after he arrived in Canada that he met and married the love of his life Beverly.   Together they provided us with a great family life both as children and as adults.  They always made time to be active and a part our interests and goals in life.  We were always encouraged to go after our dreams with passion.   Dad had a very strong work ethic and took great pride in his career as the bridge foreman with the MTO for over 25 years.  He was highly respected by all who worked with him.  He was also an active member of the Da Vinci Center, Port Arthur Italian Hall, the Alpini Society, and the Immigrante Society.  It was at the Da Vinci Center he could often be found participating in a highly competitive bocce match.    Outside of work and into his retirement he loved gardening, and spending his summers out at his camp at Whitefish Lake.  It was here he enjoyed being on the lake fishing and spending time with family, which was of the utmost importance to him.

Louie was a kind and loving husband to Beverly for 46 years, and together they raised their sons Ryan and Kristofer whom he had the closest of relationships with.   Being a father and nonno was his greatest joy in life.  Louie was blessed with three grandsons; Troy, Matthew, and Grant who he loved beyond words.  Nonno stopped by almost nightly to visit and feed his grandsons blueberries and give the best ‘pooky kisses’ before bedtimes.  There are no words to describe how much he will be missed.  He was so happy to be with his grandsons.

Luigi is survived by his loving wife Beverly (Bomben); his sons Ryan (Carrie Moffat) and Kristofer (Stephanie); his grandsons Troy, Matthew, and Grant; his sister Wanda (Tracogna) as well as his nieces and nephews and many close family friends.   He was predeceased by his parents Amedeo and Umbertina Succo, father-in-law Peter Bomben, mother-in-law Cora Bomben, his brother Franco Succo, and his brother-in-law Eno Tracogna.

Visitation will be held at the Blake Funeral Chapel, Wednesday evening October 25th 2017 from 6 - 8pm with Vigil prayers being offered at 7:00pm.  A private family funeral will be held on Thursday October 26th 2017.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Dad, we will love and remember you always.
