It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Luisa Vecchione (nee Serino), age 92 years, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, on Friday, October 25, 2024.

Luisa was born in Visciano, Naples, Italy on January 2, 1932. On November 13, 1955, she married the love of her life, Antonio Vecchione, and that was just the beginning of their 69 year love story. A love story which was stronger than anything imaginable. They were inseparable, and together formed a life of devotion to family, upholding values, and unconditional love.

After marriage, in pursuit of a life with greater opportunities, Antonio and Luisa sailed across the ocean with briefcase in hand. They settled in Fort William, Ontario where they raised their 2 children, John and Christina. Luisa dedicated her life to taking care of her family and creating a beautiful home for her husband and children. She was passionate, strong willed and held onto her traditional and cultural values throughout her entire life, raising her children and later grandchildren in a loving Catholic and Italian home. Luisa was the matriarch, she was a wife, a mom and a Nonna to the ones luckiest to call her so.

Luisa had a talent for sewing and crocheting doilies. She was also an exceptional cook, having her family over every Sunday for homemade Italian meals. Even if you finished your plate, she would still say, “mangi mangi” for you to keep eating more.

Luisa is survived by her beloved husband, Antonio Vecchione; her children John Vecchione (Pavlina) and Christina Harris (Shawn); her grandchildren Michelle and Paula Vecchione; her brother Aniello Serino (Pasqualina); her sister-in-law Cristina Vecchione; her nephews John and Tony Vecchione; her niece Cristina Bakker (Raymond); her great nephew and niece Eric and Emily Bakker; her daughter-in-law’s mother Bozena Fridmanova; and extended family.

Luisa was predeceased by her parents, Sabatino Serino and Maria Serino (nee Trinchese); and siblings Felice Serino, Nicola Serino, Pasqualina Lamanna and Domenic Serino.

Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Luisa Vecchione will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 with family and friends gathering in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:00am, celebrated by Father James Panikulam. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time in the Church. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.

Sarai sempre nel cuore di chi ti ama.

Grazie per tutto quello che hai fatto per noi
