It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lyle Manary on June 14th, 2018 at home surrounded by family.

Lyle was born in Waltham, Quebec on October 19/32 to Echlin and Marchia Manary. He was the oldest of four siblings and had a special bond with each. He attended grade school in Waltham and later went to high school in Timiskaming.
He met the love of his life, Vivianne Grandbois and they were married September 1/1956. Lyle worked for the CPR Schreiber and Sudbury divisions for 10 years and then worked for Ontario Hydro as a clerk. He worked hard to become a Certified Management Accountant and continued his career with Ontario Hydro as a station accountant. He retired in 1993. His career took him and Vivianne through White River, North Bay, Mattawa and eventually Thunder Bay in 1967 where they would settle.

Lyle touched the lives of many people through his kindness, love and faith. He practiced this most through his role as a Deacon. This year marked Lyle's 30th year as a Deacon, through which he spent his whole faithful journey with St. Margaret's Church. He performed numerous weddings and baptisms and was a pillar of strength for many during their most difficult times. Lyle was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus #1130 for over 40 years in which he ran bingos and visited the sick and shut-ins. He loved gardening, car/family trips and a good game of cards where he would "give them confidence and then crush them". Some trips included many road trips with his wife and sons and a memorable trip to Ireland with his sister and granddaughter. He mostly loved being with his family with him saying numerous times that his favourite sound was his family's laughter.

Lyle's life changed when his favourite and only grandchild was born. Courteney had a special bond with each of her grandparents, but especially with Lyle as he was the last one. Courteney and her fiancé, Michael Cowie moved in with Lyle over 5 years ago to help him so that he could stay in the home he loved. Even in the late stages of Lyle's battle with cancer, Courteney took him on a two week road trip to Ottawa and other destinations, visiting family and friends and creating unforgettable memories and laughing the whole time.

Lyle was predeceased by Vivianne, his loving wife of 47 years and their daughter Denise who was deceased in infancy. His parents Echlin and Marchia and siblings Bud Manary, Valerie Trepanier and Janet Christie.

Lyle is survived by his sons, Andre and wife Leslie and Paul and wife Sherry. Missed greatly by granddaughter Courteney and fiancé Michael Cowie. Also survived by sister-in-law Frances Grandbois from Ottawa and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Lyle will always be remembered for his patience, kind disposition, generosity, selflessness and ability to make anyone feel welcomed and loved by offering words of wisdom or an open ear.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 when family and friends will gather in St. Margaret's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:30 a.m. celebrated by the Most Rev.
