Mrs. Lynda Marie Steadman (nee Phillips), age 67 years, a long time resident of Oshawa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side.

Lynda was born in Oshawa, Ontario on Feb. 9, 1943 the youngest of two children to Phil and Hazel Phillips. She has always been an ambitious individual striving to achieve her best in all areas of life.

As a youngster, she was awarded the Gold Cord in Girl Guiding, an honour she worked very hard toward. She later graduated from Oshawa Collegiate and Vocational Institute, and went on to Teacher's College in Toronto. Linda was a primary school teacher which gave her great satisfaction. She continued teaching until she and her husband Karl started their family in 1969.

She was a very loving and devoted mother, and stayed home with her two girls during their young years.

As her children grew, Lynda decided to enrich her spiritual life through continued education in theology, logo therapy and spiritual direction. She had a very strong faith, and was honoured to be able to spiritually counsel individuals in crisis.

During the last 20 years, Lynda devoted her life to music, spirituality and her family. She taught piano lessons from her home right up until the time of her passing. She took great pleasure in teaching her students, and it was often a highlight of her day. She has always tried to inspire her students by making learning and music fun.

She had also extended her spiritual life through fellowship with parishioners and leading regular bible studies. However, Lynda's greatest passion in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, and would endlessly love, support and help her family in any way.

She had a cat “Joy” who was truly a joy in her life, and was a cherished feline companion.

She will be sadly missed, but held close in heart, by daughter Suzanne Ogden and husband Glenn of Ottawa, daughter Debi Steadman of Thunder Bay and grand-daughters Victoria, Emily and Olivia. She is also survived by her dear sister Beverley Baxter and husband Peter of Collingwood, and her husband Karl Steadman of Ottawa.

She is predeceased by her beloved parents Phil and Hazel Phillips of Oshawa.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Lynda Steadman will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 in St. Luke's Anglican Church with the Rev. Judie Cooper officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday evening in the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.

If friends so desire donations may be made to St. Luke's Anglican Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

May the angels bow down to greet her and hold her in their palms,
As she had held so many others.
May her spirit live on in those who were touched by her life and love.
