It is with great sadness that the family of Madeline Szekely announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the age of ninety.

She was born in Hungary in 1925, and immigrated to Canada with her husband in 1951 to join her parents in Thunder Bay.

She worked at the Fort William Sanitarium and at Westmount Hospital for many years. Later, she spent twenty years working at Westfort Lanes, the family bowling alley.

She was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Catholic Women’s League. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and spending winters in Florida.

She was predeceased by her husband Julius, brother Andrew, and parents, George and Mary Lukacs. She is survived by her son William and daughter, Madeline.

Many thanks to Dr. James Toppin and the staff at T.B.R.H.S. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 9 2016 at 1:30 pm in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Visitation for friends will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., followed by Funeral Mass.

A reception will follow. Private interment of the ashes will take place at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum at a later date.

Madeline Szekely will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11
