It is with the most sincere and heartfelt sadness, yet joy in her salvation, that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother—Maddy Boomhower.

Our Maddy is survived by her loving family including her husband Randy, her daughters Sarah and Hannah, her granddaughter Gabriella Rose, her mother Dolores Kivi, her brother Victor Kivi, her sister Kathi Witkowski-Kivi, and her numerous nieces and nephews.  She is pre-deceased by her sons Sem and Jesse, her father Vilho Alfred Kivi, her brother Vincent Kivi, and her many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Maddy was born in the spring of 1954 to parents Dolores and Alfred Kivi in Port Arthur, ON.  She grew up in the small community of Finmark with her three siblings beside her Garland grandparents’ homestead.  Maddy met her husband, Randy, working at Mattabi Mine in Ignace, where she was the first woman to train workers to operate the large machines she fell in love with—a trail blazer always.  After marrying and traveling the world, Randy and Maddy moved to Ear Falls with the intention of working the rest of their careers at the Griffith Mine.

God had other intentions.  Paramedicine would be her work passion for the rest of her life.  Maddy became an ambulance officer in the mid 70’s, and found a niche in sharing herself and her love with those who needed her most.  She worked actively in this, her chosen profession, for over 40 years, over twice the average for her peers.  Maddy worked with unconditional love and attention to detail in her career serving the residents of Ear Falls, Red Lake, Upsala and Conmee (and service area) townships.

She loved beyond reason, with passion, beauty, and unwavering strength.  She was a virtuous woman and precious beyond jewels.  She was the most selfless mother, wife, friend, and worker—a beautiful example of everything right and good.  Whenever she opened her mouth wisdom poured from it.  ‘We wish to rise up and call her Blessed,’ for she was a wonderful mother, wife, sister and daughter.  We will meet again whether the Rapture takes us, or our Heavenly Father calls us home.  Till then we will live with loving memories of a spectacular woman.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, June 5th, 2015, at 1:00PM/1300HR with luncheon to follow at the Conmee Community Hall (19 Holland Road West).   In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Rural Cupboard Food Bank as this was a near and dear organization to our Maddy. Donations can be dropped off at the Conmee Community Hall or cheques mailed
