Mrs. Margaret (Bold) Bobyk passed away peacefully at Bethammi Nursing Home on Thursday, February 5, 2015.|

Margaret was born in Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan on July 13, 1918. She came to Port Arthur to join her brother and his family. She met Frank Bobyk through friends and married soon after. Her early years in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) were devoted to her growing family.

She enjoyed her many friends and relatives whom she always had love and concern for. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and in later years her great grandchildren. She loved to celebrate holidays and birthdays and freely dispensed hugs and kisses. She lived on Pine Street, Prospect Avenue, and for over forty years on Dawson Street. Recently, she enjoyed her four-year stay at the P.R. Cook apartments and a short stay at Bethammi Nursing Home at St. Joseph's Heritage.

Margaret was a devoted member of St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Parish and the CWL. She loved to sing and was a member of the St. Andrew's choir for many years. She volunteered at St. Andrew's Dew Drop Inn for over twenty-five years attaining a City of Thunder Bay Achievement Award in recognition of her contribution to the community. She also attended St. Mary's Polish Church with her mother-in-law for a period of time where she also volunteered her services. She was employed at Canada Car during WWII in the fabrication of aircraft and for a period of time in the 60's she worked in housekeeping at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Marilyn (Ray) Halverson, Fran Anderson, David (Mary Louise) Bobyk and Richard Bobyk; grandchildren Jane (Bruno) Vendittelli, Julie (Michael) Filipetti, Neal Halverson, Eric Anderson, Danny (Kelly) Bobyk , Marlene (Dan) Aube, Michael (Leann McMullen) Bobyk, great grandchildren Abigail & Madeline Filipetti, Henry & Jack Vendittelli, Sarah, Billy & Cody McMullen and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, husband, Frank; son-in-law Randy Anderson; sisters, Elizabeth, Kate, Anne and Mary and brothers, John, Raymond and George.

Also predeceased by parents-in -law, John and Sophie Bobyk; sisters-in -law, Florence Bold, Helen Bold and Genevieve Vick; brothers-in-law, Steve Witol, Ted Kartes, Bill Porter, Tony and Edward Bobyk,and Peter Vick.

A warm thank you to her friend Norma Obljubek who drove her to church and to special church celebrations for many years and the staff at P.R. Cook Apartments, Manor House Adult Day Program and Bethammi Nursing Home for their care and concern for Margaret in her final years. The kindness and respect they showed Margaret and family will not be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 when family and friends will gather in St. Andrew's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am, celebrated by Rev. Antoni Fujarczuk. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Margaret's name to St. Andrew's Dew Drop Inn or St. Joseph's Foundation of Thunder Bay.
