Margaret (Grete) Tomasevic

Mrs. Margaret (Grete) Tomasevic passed away peacefully with family members by her side in Bethammi Nursing Home on April 4th, 2018 at the age of 91.

Margaret was born in Dortmund, Germany on November 12th, 1926. She lived through the Great Depression and Second World War. Margaret met the love of her life, Dragisa, in Germany and married him after a 2 year courtship. She immigrated to Canada in 1951 with her first born son, Milan, joining her husband to start a new life.

Margaret (Ma) as she was later known as, was a strong, out-going woman with a joyful sense of humour. She had a strong work-ethic which lives on in both her son's. Margaret lived independently, displaying both mental and physical strength.

Margaret was a social person who loved to swim and enjoyed camping at Sandstone Lake. She loved music, especially playing her beloved harmonica. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her property on Balsam Street. Margaret moved to Red River Towers in 1998 where she resided for the past 19 years.

Margaret is survived by her loving son's Mel (Anita) and Pete (Beverly) and grandsons Mike (Lindsay) and Michael. Margaret is also survived by her two sisters, Helene and Gisela in Dortmund, Germany. She is predeceased by her husband, Dragisa, who passed away in 1986, along with her brother Frintz (Inge) and parents Karl and Maria Gutt.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10th, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Matthew Diegel of Our Saviours Lutheran Church presiding. Following the reception, interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. Should friends desire, memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
