With heavy hearts, the family of Maria Angotti Costanzo announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her beloved family by her side.

Maria was born in Borboruso, Cosenza, Italy on October 16, 1931. She married her beloved, Emilio, and together they immigrated with their young family to Canada.

Maria thrived when surrounded by her family, sharing stories, and preparing and sharing meals. She loved receiving calls from her precious grandchildren, Ryan, Dane, and Emily, requesting tutorials on her special recipes. Maria was our matriarch, always focused on nurturing bonds and instilling family values.

Her siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family members were foremost in her thoughts. She could always be counted on for wise counsel.

Over the years, Maria cultivated many cherished friendships, which were an important part of her life. In later years, these relationships were maintained through regular telephone conversations. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity of spirit, friendship, strength of character, and dedicated work ethic.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Fiorella and son-in-law Jeffery Latimer, grandchildren, Ryan (Tara), Dane and Emily, daughter Ada Mirella, sister Teresa and brother-in-law Carmine in Australia, sister Franca and brother-in-law Giovanni in Italy, and sister Anna Angotti Chiodo and family, brother-in-law Mario Costanzo and family, sisters-in-law Serafina, Carmela, Sestilia and familiies in Italy, as well as, brother-in-law Luigi (Rosa) and family in Italy.

Predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Santa, two sons, Fiorello in Italy and Corrado in Atikokan, her husband Emilio, and siblings, Clorinda, Gaspare, Costantino, and Cotilde.

She was a member of the C.W.L. of St. Anthony Church and the Italian Ladies Society of Port Arthur.
