It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria (Arbucci) Prisco on Saturday, October 2,2021 two weeks shy of her 90th Birthday. Maria passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

Maria was born on October 20, 1931 in Schiava, Italy. She was one of eight children, all of which predeceased her.

Maria married the love of her life and soulmate, Carmine, in 1952. A short time after they married, they immigrated to Canada along with their two daughters. Once they established their life in Canada, they had two more children. Although Mom held down various jobs to help contribute to the household, her main job and passion was taking care of her family. She did this in many ways but mostly by preparing delicious meals, working in the garden alongside Dad and preserving everything and anything that came out of the garden. She was the happiest when she was in her kitchen planning meals for family and friends get togethers. Always the life of the party. Mom and Dad’s house was always full of friends, family and laughter and Mom can be seen in the middle of it all telling jokes and stories.  She will be missed by many that had the privilege of being part of these get togethers.

Mom adored her family and will be deeply missed by his four children, Carmela (Dave) Carleton, Mickey (Greg) Samsal, Anna (Frank) Pascuzzo and Frank (Linda) Prisco; six grandchildren, Jay (Marne) Samsal, Alea Samsal (Jim Carroll), Gerard (Laurel) Carleton, Miranda Carleton (Erik Dobrowolsky), Megan (Ryan) Bochko and Carmen (Amy-lynn) Prisco, as well as three beautiful and amazing great-grandchildren, Brynn and Briar Samsal and Owen Bochko. Also left to mourn are many nieces, nephews and other relatives in Canada and Italy.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carmine Prisco, parents Felice and Michelina Arbucci and her seven siblings in Italy and Thunder Bay.

We would like to thank the staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor Spruce Unit for the care and compassion you gave to Mom over the past year.
