Mr. Mariano Lento age 84 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016.  

Mariano was born in Luzzi Cosenza Italy. He emigrated to Canada in 1965 where he spent more than fifty years with the love of his life Carmela (Cosenza), where together they made a better life for their family. He had a strong faith and was well known to the staff of St. Dominc’s Church and parish where he was a member for many years.

His fondest memories were the time spent with his grandchildren and working in his garden, where friends and family were always welcome to receive the fruits of his labours. He was a cement finisher for Current Bay, making many friends while he worked there.

Mariano took great pride in caring for his home and made friends wherever he went.

He is survived by his children Rita and Blaine Sklar, Dominic and Rosa Lento, Tony Lento, Franca and Guiseppe Scalzo, grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Nicole and Angie (Justin Garofalo) Giovanni (Daniella) Scalzo and Frankie and Peter Scalzo, great grandchildren, Lucas and Guillana Garofalo, sisters-in-law Elvira Chiapetta, Erminia Lento and Maria (Tony) Cosenza (Toronto). Numerous other relatives also survive.

He was predeceased by hiswife Carmela, parents Saverio and Aurelia Lento, in-laws Saverio and Luisa Cosenza, brothers Nicola, Camillo and Francesco Lento, sisters Erminia and Adelina (Italy), Ida and Assunta Bisignano, brothers-in-law Elio Chiapetta, Salvatore Bisignano, Antonio Brogna, nephews Saverio Lento and Giancarlo Gentile. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 10:00am, at St. Dominic's Church celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s.  Interment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum. Visitation will start at 7:30 Thursday December 22, 2016 in St. Dominic's Church with prayers offered 8:00pm. 

If friends desire, memorials to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated.

 Mariano Lento will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
