Mr. Mario Morson, age 85 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, January 12, 2023 with his wife Silvana by his side.

Mario was born in Bannia, Pordenone, Italy, on April 8, 1937. He and his wife Silvana Gabbana were married on January 4, 1958 and the couple immigrated to Canada. Mario was a devoted husband and a calm, caring father to his four children. He worked tirelessly to provide his family with the life and opportunities that they ended up having.

Mario worked for Ogilvie Flour Mills as a packer, following which he worked for many years in the construction industry as a Cement Finisher.

Mario’s greatest passion was gardening. He spent countless hours outside working on his garden, flowerbeds and greenhouse and he took great pride in his hobby. He was an active member in the church community and enjoyed bowling in his church league. Mario was a long-time member of the DA VINCI Centre.

He loved being with all his family where he would sit quietly taking everything in always with a smile on his face.

Mario is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Silvana; his children, Claudio (Lisa), Nilla (James), Dennis (Liana) and Myra (Jesse), his siblings Ruggero (Lucia), Antonietta and Dina. Mario was blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Guerrino and Umberta Morson; and sister Maria.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Mario Morson will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 with family and friends gathering in St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Should friends so desire, In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Mario to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
