Mr. Mario Terlicher, 86 years of age, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his family by his side.

Mario was born October 17, 1928 in San Leonardo, Udine, Italy.  He came to Canada in 1957 where he worked in Atikokan, Ontario shortly before moving to Port Arthur, Ontario.  In 1959 he married   Anita Barbetti and raised their two children. He worked at several automotive garages and completed his career at Port Arthur Motors after 27 years as an auto-body man.

Mario’s priority was always his family.  He will be remembered as a fun-loving and caring husband, father, nonno and bisnonno who always had a joke or story to tell. He never gave a second thought to share his many talents with family and friends.  His enthusiasm for life was evident in his passion for cars, his tomatoes, and the great outdoors.

Mario will be very deeply missed by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Anita, and his two children Mike Terlicher, and Elizabeth Koprich (son-in-law James).  He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, whom he cared deeply for; Adam Terlicher (fiancée Cydney Marchand), Ashlee Terlicher, Chiara Koprich and Jacob Koprich.  He also was fortunate to have a great-granddaughter, Scarlett Terlicher and was happily awaiting the arrival of his soon-to-be second great-grandchild.

Also left to mourn the loss is his brother Giuseppe Terlicher and sister-in-law Bruna Barbetti, both of Italy.  He is survived locally by Pauluzzo family members, as well as Aberdeen and Cairns families in British Columbia.  Mario also had a special relationship with the Guidolin, Kramer, Sdraulig, Melanson, Toffanin and Floreancig families.

Mario was predeceased by his parents Carlo and Maria Terlicher, sister Lucina, brother Alfonso, sisters-in-law Alide and Irma, and brothers-in-law Diego and Vincenzo.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre at 10:30 a.m. to St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, 123 Hilldale Road, for Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. to be celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini.  Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, where a Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Mario’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation – Northern Cancer Fund or the Alzheimer  Society.
