Marlene Jean Mottys
In loving memory of Marlene Jean Mottys (Munn), 85, who passed away on March 19, 2021 due to complications from COVID. Born June 18, 1935, in Port Arthur, Ontario to John and Edith (Arvelin) Munn, she was the middle of three children.

She began her working career as a window trimmer for Kresge’s store. In 1954, she met the love of her life George (Jiri) Mottys, and they married in 1958. They loved travelling and had many happy vacations, which slowed only slightly when their daughter was born in 1965.

Even though she decided to stay home and raise a family, she found a way to be around people, which was her passion. She sold Avon for many years, then moved on to Tupperware and then Weekender clothes among other endeavours. Everything she involved herself with she excelled at, often being at the top.

Marlene was known for her great sense of humour and you cold often hear her laugh long before you could see her. That we will miss.

She loved volunteering, whether it was to visit patients in the hospital or most recently delivering for Meals on Wheels. She spent time with people when they needed company and was the first to bring you your favourite meal when you were not feeling well. She was truly a find and generous person, with a large heart.

Remembered by her daughter and son-in-law Georgia (John) D’Angelo, granddaughter Charlene, siblings Gayle Johnson and Lynn Strey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband George, her parents John and Edith Munn, brother Jerry and wife Marion, brother Don and wife Gale and brother-in-law Gary Johnson.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later time. If you would like to honour her memory, donations can be made to the Northern Cancer Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
