It is with great sadness that the family of Marta Marozzo, nee Arella, announce her passing on March 10, 2020 at the age of 85 years.

Marta was born on November 16, 1934 in Serra Aiello, Province of Cosenza, Italy. In 1959, while pregnant with her second child, Attilio, she, with husband Saverio and firstborn son Eugene immigrated to Canada to join the rest of the family.

Marta was a loving and dedicated homemaker to her family, always cooking and making homemade bread for family and friends. When you went to visit her, she always had the espresso ready on the stove and the biscotti on the table. Marta was also an avid gardener, having the best garden around; you never left her house hungry or without a care package.

Marta will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children: Eugene (Bette), Attilio, Angelo (Bonnie) and Franco (Annette); grandchildren Jamie (Kristen Perozik), Alex, Michael, Geoffrey, Colton, Kalie, Carly, Nolan, Samantha, Brittany; great grandchildren Karsten, Gavin, Maddison and Cy; sisters-in-law Maria and Lina Marozzo in Italy, Maria, Emelia, Antonietta, Janeece and Rita Arella in Canada; brother Adam (Silvana) Arella; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.

Marta was predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Maria Arella; husband Saverio; son Anthony; siblings Francesco, Guiesppe, Filippo, Mario, Peter and Settimio Arella; nephews Pasquale, Giovanni and Eugene Arella; sisters-in-law Carmena Arella, Eugenio and Angela Marozzo and Santo and Mirella Pellegrino.

A woman of strong faith, she was a devoted member of St. Anthony’s parish. Services for Marta will be held on Monday morning, March 16, 2020 leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Road, for the Funeral Mass to be celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, March 15th, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre where the Vigil Service will begin at 3:00 p.m.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Anthony’s Church or the Dew Drop Inn would be appreciated.
