KAMO

1921-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Martha (Masa) Kamo (nee Kayahara) announces her passing peacefully at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 88.

Martha will be lovingly remembered and fondly missed by her family: children Richard (Ruth), Larry (Suzette), all of Thunder Bay and Bill from Toronto. She will also be remembered and missed by her grandchildren: Kim (Jodie), Jeni (Roger) and Jeff all from Vancouver; Ally (Matt) from New Zealand; Paul and Sylvie from Thunder Bay; great grandchildren Tori from New Zealand and Jacob from Vancouver. Martha was predeceased by her husband, Harry (1993).

Relatives attending from out of town include her sister Lou Ozaki, nephew Butch Hotta (Nida), Bob Kayahara all from Toronto and Gord (Leanne) Kayahara from Timmins.

Martha enjoyed gardening, walking and swimming but was heard to say that her greatest happiness was being a mother and grandmother. Martha recently fulfilled her last wish by going to New Zealand to visit her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and Dr. Boake of the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Thanks to the many friends for their baking, condolences, cards, flowers and prayers.

As per Martha’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 6th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, with Reverend Jean Udal and Minister Emeritus Dave Silliman officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Martha’s memory to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation - Peritoneal Dialysis Unit, 980 Oliver Road, or to Knox United Church, 1 Shuniah Street, Thunder Bay.
